The Clyst

The river Clyst derives from Old English for clear water. At its lower end it hosts Brent geese and Canada geese in the Bowling Green March RSPB reserve with a hide for birdwatchers.

see https://www.rspb.org.uk for more information

The Sustrans National Cycle route 2 runs through Topsham and down the east bank of the river passing through the bird reserve on it's way to Lympstone, Exmouth and beyond.

Small boats can navigate up the Clyst at high tide following markers to the railway bridge and then with caution proceed up as far as the Bridge Inn.
