Club Dinghies

We have five Club sailing dinghies for use by any adult member or cadet with parental supervision. The newest is the blue Wayfarer bought to help with sail training. For details see the News page. There are also two Toppers and two Laser Picos which are tough and forgiving little boats and ideal for practising the basic skills of sailing. These can be booked out as per the instructions given on The Club page under "Tips for members on using SCM". Alternatively, watch out for Open Sailing sessions with Safety boat cover. These can be signed up for through the events page on the relevant date. If there is interest we will set up some races during the season too.

Storage for sailing dinghies is available for Members' craft during the summer season (1st April to 30th October). A charge is made for the season and collected in arrears on the annual account. The rates are fixed annually by the Committee and published on the Club Notice board and Website. All Dinghies need an efficient and adequate launching trolley, but Toppers and similar boats are stored on racks, so any trolley must also fit into the rack. All vessels must be covered by insurance and it is the owner's responsibility to ensure that all their gear is properly maintained. It is a condition of storage that all gear is clearly marked with the Owner's Name. Dinghy storage is administered by the Dinghy Captain (or his nominated person from the Dinghy Committee) and an application list is normally posted in January of each year on the Dinghy Notice Board at the Club.
