Duty Allocations Ashore

Subject to the available information, allocations ashore try to take account of friendships, relationships, preferences and circumstances - whilst also enabling TSC's race and social programmes to provide enjoyable experiences for members. More specifically, the allocation processes used are:

  • All members are invited to review and update their 'preferences' for duties ashore within the Members' Portal at 'Profile'. This can be done at any time, but changes will normally take effect for the following season.
  • For Bar/Galley on race nights, 'boat duty teams' are based on consultation with cruiser members known to be active in the previous year, advice from past and present Fleet Captains, and augmentation from yawl sailors and others as necessary.
  • 'Wednesday Bar' allocations in Summer (April 1st to September 30th) are derived from those with 'individual' memberships who are not allocated to a boat duty team. This shares voluntary contributions across the membership.
  • 'Friday Social Evening' allocations are drawn from 'couple' memberships where there are no cadets who might need attention. With the galley available for self-catering, why not invite friends for supper and a drink too?
  • 'Winter bar' duty preferences are fulfilled between October 1st and March 31st and such duties are reserved for those who would rather avoid busy summer events.
  • The first named in a membership is normally prioritised for allocation rather than the second named, although couples may be allocated together.
  • Committee members do their fair share of duties and may also cover at special events or if problems arise.
