Yard Marshal puts up Winter Storage list in clubhouse 15th June 2025

WINTER STORAGE NOTICE - 2025/2026

Owners wishing to store their craft on the Club Yard or alongside the North Wall during the forthcoming winter should apply by signing up on the application list posted on the Club Notice Board. Applicants should be aware that owners granted storage in the yard will be expected to provide their own cradles and gear, which must be compatible with the Club's equipment. Owners of fin keeled or drop keeled boats must pay particular attention to the robustness and state of repair of their cradles to provide proper support to their craft at all times to ensure their own and others safety, including during the storage period and during maintenance work when temporary supports may be required.

Owners will be expected to provide enough crew to help with on board activity and we will continue to operate ashore with a dedicated gang familiar with the winch operations to haul out and berth the boat. Notwithstanding this the Club does NOT offer a contract lift and the responsibility for the Lay Up, any Mast Lifts, and subsequent Re-Launching rests solely with the owner but advice may be offered by the Yard Marshal or the work team as appropriate.

Owners will require sufficient hands for the on board control of the mast during lowering (or subsequent erection), a second dedicated team will be working the crane ashore. Please ensure that you approach the Quayside slowly and in a straight approach from close in to "Wixels" to avoid sharp turning manoeuvres onto the Quay. Once alongside Owners must provide sufficient lines to moor the boat properly with both fore and aft Springs and Breast Lines.

Owners and their helpers must comply in all respects with Club Health and Safety Policies and Safe Working Practices as set out in the Risk Assessment and Preferred Operating System documents which are available for inspection in the Clubhouse or on the Web site. Members must provide their own Personal Protective Equipment whilst working in the Yard or under the Crane.

Applications will be considered by the General Committee at their September Meeting and a list and plan of the approved allocations will be circulated to successful applicants following that meeting. Allocations will be decided as far as possible using a points system which takes into account Members activity in racing and cruising in the boat the subject of their application and also their assistance in the general running of the Club and the Yard. The Committee have previously declared that preference will be given to boats which cannot reasonably be trailer mounted and towed away to storage sites remote from the River. Any applicants not offered a berth will be individually notified.

Applicants should note that Hauling out will be programmed during suitable tides from 4th October to 12th October and from 17th October to 26th October. The Yard Clearance Working party will be programmed for Wednesday 1st October.

The Haul out Schedule will be circulated to those concerned and posted on the Club Web site and Notice Board.

THE APPLICATION LIST CLOSES ON 15th AUGUST 2025.

Bill Ricketts, Yard Marshal. 15th June 2025.
