Duties and Covid

Currently, in the summer of 2022, Covid rates have fallen very significantly and TSC has followed government and RYA advice by opening the Clubhouse and re-establishing a programme of sailing and social activities.

However, monthly surveys by the Office for National Statistics show that Covid infection rates remain significant. For example, in May 2022, the rate in our region just over 2% which suggests that something like 1 in 45 people would test positive.

Members who kindly undertake bar or galley duties inevitably interact with large numbers of people when serving drinks or food. They thus face significantly greater risks than others. Bearing this in mind, the Bar Committee have obtained a new acrylic countertop screen to enhance protection for those doing bar or galley duties, should they wish to use it.

The following advice to members undertaking bar or galley duties is offered:

  • Ventilation: for the benefit of everybody, please open windows and doors, as practical in prevailing weather conditions, to maximise ventilation throughout the Clubhouse.
  • Protection: primarily for your own protection, please consider the use of the acrylic screen which has been provided. This slots together and sits on the bar or galley countertop. Screens are demountable for flat storage in a protective bag so that scratches can be avoided.
  • Protection: primarily for your own protection, please wear a mask if you wish.

Members undertaking duties should make their own decisions on the protection with which they feel comfortable.
